MOUNTAINEER
QUEST

Mountaineer Quest is a camp-based, peer-led, 5-day program that prepare incoming students for life at WVU and in WV. Students will engage in day trips around the area, participating in activities such as hiking, rock climbing, service work, whitewater inflatable kayaking, and sightseeing. 


All trips $95 or less

Program Details

  • All trips are $95. The university is subsidizing all trips.
  • Student who are Pell Grant eligible will pay $0
  • Open to ALL incoming WVU first-year students
  • NO academic credit and NO follow up classes
  • Groups of up to 50 with smaller activity groups of 15-20 students
  • Students will stay in rustic cabins with a dining hall for meals
  • All trips are 5 days
  • Trips are led by upperclassman student leaders

Day Hike in the afternoon
Camp Muffly cabins and dining hall
Day 2 - Tuesday A full day at the WVU Outdoor Education Center, on both high and low challenge course elements Camp Muffly cabins and dining hall
Day 3 - Wednesday A half day of service with a local organization, and a half day of rock climbing at Coopers Rock State Forest Camp Muffly cabins and dining hall
Day 4 - Thursday Whitewater Inflatable Kayaking in beautiful Ohiopyle State Park, PA, with options for a day hiking and exploring the town Camp Muffly cabins and dining hall
Day 5 - Friday Last-day activities at camp and the end of the program Camp Muffly cabins and dining hall
